Jess Trengove took advantage of the ideal running conditions to knock two-and-a-half minutes off her personal best while taking victory in the Melbourne Marathon.
Her impressive run was the sixth fastest Australian female marathon of all-time (2:27:45), setting her up nicely leading into the Rio Olympics.

Accompanied for much of the race by training partners, Trengove finished with a winning margin of more than eleven minutes over second place Lydia O’Donnell.
In the men’s race, Brad Milosevic took victory in 2 hours and 16 minutes, two-and-a-half minutes ahead of second place, Antony Ndungu Mugo.

Thousands of participants took to the streets of Melbourne in the near-perfect running conditions, with 6,043 finishers in the marathon.
