Gravel Macedon

The Gravel Macedon ride is a gravel cycling event held in the Macedon Ranges, starting and finishing at Racecourse Reserve in Woodend, just over an hour from Melbourne.

Organised by Bicycle Network, the event is designed to take riders onto lesser-known backroads and gravel routes, with views across the region including Hanging Rock and the southern end of the Great Dividing Range.

Riders can choose from three distances, making the event accessible to a wide range of abilities. The long route covers 131km with 1,850m of elevation and 76% gravel, the medium route is 77km with 995m of elevation and 81% gravel, and the short route is 44km with 590m of elevation and 75% gravel. Bicycle Network notes that shortcuts are built into the day, giving riders some flexibility if they want to reduce their distance on the ride.

The event also includes strong on-route support, with rest stops, snacks, hydration, mechanical and medical assistance, plus a post-ride feed and entertainment. That makes Gravel Macedon a well-supported option for riders wanting a scenic gravel challenge in regional Victoria.
