The Hell of the West Triathlon is labelled Queensland's toughest triathlon, located in Goondiwindi, approximately 350km south-west of Brisbane.
Athletes will tackle one of Australia's most challenging courses, consisting of a 2km swim, 80km cycle and 20km run.
The 2km swim course entails a 1km swim upstream followed by 1km downstream in the freshwater of the MacIntyre River. The 80km cycle course is “dead flat”, 40 km west out the Barwon Highway towards St George and return. The 20km run leg consists of three loops along the towns river path, which faces east and west. Aid stations are placed every kilometre.
