Maximum Adventure Race Series – Lake Macquarie
About this event
The Lake Macquarie event in the Max Adventure Race Series is a team-based adventure race held at Cams Wharf, NSW, on 13 February 2027. Designed for teams of two, it combines trail running or hiking, mountain biking and kayaking with navigation, creating a multi-discipline challenge that suits both experienced racers and newcomers.
The event offers three course formats. The Classic course is the longest option, featuring approximately 15-25km of mountain biking, 7-12km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking, with most teams taking 4-6 hours to finish. The Novice course is a shorter, more accessible option, with around 5-15km of biking, 3-5km of running and 1-2km of kayaking, and generally takes 2-4 hours. There is also a Kids course, with approximately 1-2km of running, 2-4km of biking and 500m of kayaking, using simple navigation to introduce younger participants to adventure racing.
Set around the shoreline of Lake Macquarie and extending towards the coast near Caves Beach, the course combines scenic lake paddling, forest riding and coastal trail sections for a varied and family-friendly day of adventure.
