Rip View Swim Classic

The Rip View Swim Classic takes place on Tuesday 30 December 2026 at Point Lonsdale, with stunning views over Port Phillip Heads – the dramatic stretch of water known as "the Rip". Now in its 38th year, this is a favourite on the open water swimming calendar, perfectly timed between Christmas and the iconic Pier to Pub.

The event's location at Port Phillip Heads means the swim is carefully scheduled around low tide to ensure the best possible conditions. Three swims are on offer across a range of distances and experience levels, with the headline options being a 1.4km course and a 3.8km course.

The 1.4km swim is particularly well suited to those newer to open water – a near-straight-line course in relatively shallow water, never too far from shore, with tidal conditions generally favouring the direction of the swim and a friendly, manageable field.

All proceeds raised go directly to the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club, making this a great community event as much as a competitive one. Come for the swim, stay for the scenery and the summer holiday atmosphere.
