Held annually over the June Long Weekend since 1988, the Riverland Paddling Marathon (RPM) is more than just a race—it's a true celebration of paddling. Hosted by the Marathon Canoe Club of South Australia, the RPM offers a festival-like atmosphere with six different events spanning three days each June in the crisp winter air.
Paddlers from across Australia converge on South Australia's stunning Riverland region to race along the iconic Murray River. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a first-time participant, there's a challenge to suit everyone.
The six events held across the weekend include:
The Murray 200 – A 208km continuous paddle over three days, from Berri to Morgan.
The 200 Relay – The same 208km Berri-to-Morgan course, tackled as a relay event.
The Murray 100 – A 93km course over three days, covering selected sections of the full route.
The Murray 50 – A 49km course over three days, sharing parts of the course with the Mini-Marathon and M100.
Single Day Paddle – Held on the Sunday, this 26km paddle runs from Devlins Pound to Waikerie.
Mini-Marathon – A flexible option offering 11–12km paddles on any single day or across multiple days.
The RPM is a fun, inclusive event welcoming a wide range of watercraft, including international racing craft, recreational canoes and kayaks, surf skis, outriggers, surf boats, and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs). While competition is part of the spirit, the focus is always on participation, camaraderie, and the shared love of padd
